<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I fell back on an AutoCAD command I haven't used for years and it still works great.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Type "<b>whohas</b>" on the command line, and browse to the file in question.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNvyqqspTgzvty9dh4Q8mAz4RIeAOUBKEcCSZ_9nNXpg6mlK0kQvY2Af50gj_MaUEmcUFucTmUOVTqrpENcf5w6poKYS-M_I2L1fxCC6N8W72J54qc3VKhwr530qQL8JCXXfcc/s1600/DrawnBy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNvyqqspTgzvty9dh4Q8mAz4RIeAOUBKEcCSZ_9nNXpg6mlK0kQvY2Af50gj_MaUEmcUFucTmUOVTqrpENcf5w6poKYS-M_I2L1fxCC6N8W72J54qc3VKhwr530qQL8JCXXfcc/s320/DrawnBy.jpg" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Back in the olden days, each drafter had a sheet. They worked on it until they were done, and they put their initials on the sheet to indicate they did the work.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Electronic sheets don't sit on a single persons desk and in my experience, are seldom completed by a single individual. Somehow the idea that a single person should have their initials on every sheet has persisted. Somebody usually steps up and says use my initials. We take the time to fill in a box that honestly no longer needs to exist.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is a small thing to be concerned about in the grand scheme, but worth noting that time is wasted daily on who's initials</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> do we want to use.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I say, delete it from our title blocks and un-friend somebody on Facebook. Let's see which gets noticed first. My guess is neither one.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>6:04 am </b>Activate snooze function on my phone alarm.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>6:05 am </b>Brush my long beautiful hair. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>6:08 am</b> Realize I am bald and dreaming. Get up and pick out one of 4 remaining staged outfits I prepped over the weekend.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>6:30 am </b> Head to work. Leo A Daly Omaha.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>6:50 am </b>Arrive at office. Crack first Dr. Pepper of the day, eat unfrosted brown sugar cinnamon Pop-tarts. Check LinkedIn and like/comment on anniversaries, birthday's and job changes. Look for cool articles. Go through my favorite Blogs, answer emails and figure out what I am doing for the day.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>7:30 am </b>BIM Managers Hi-5 meeting. We get together every morning for a 5 minute meeting that lasts a half hour. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>8:00 am </b>Dr. Pepper #2. Production work, fix misaligned linked Revit files.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>8:45 am </b>Triscuits and Pepperoni. I get hungry. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>9:00 am </b>Impromptu meeting to discuss an upcoming meeting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>9:42 am </b>Finish misaligned Revit links from earlier, skip Code Book Webinar.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>10:12 am </b></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Impromptu e</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">nergy modeling discussion and rework of architectural model.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>10:45 am </b>Some how the misaligned models that were fixed an hour ago are misaligned again.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>11:30 am</b> Quick online meeting to discuss how a bunch of offices can communicate and get along better. It ended with a virtual hug, so that's a good sign.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>12:00 noon </b>Superbowl party featuring homemade soups in a bowl. Get it? Soup'er' Bowl. we are pretty creative over here. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>2:47 pm </b>Documenting what goes wrong on deployments and why. Putting together ways to make deploying software a no fail situation.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>2:52 pm </b>Therapy session with two other BIM Managers budgets, standards, training, and working with IT.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>3:12 pm </b>Short discussion about a logo for the Omaha BIM Collaborative.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>3:23 pm </b> Hallway discussion about upcoming company meeting. Decide to have a formal meeting Friday.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>3:45 pm </b> Final email review, pack my bag with "to go" work.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>4:00 pm </b>Go to University of Nebraska to teach Design Processes and Construction Documents.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>5:30 pm </b>Present how to import AutoCAD files into Revit, then overview of a construction document set. Tell sad story of how I lost a company $20,000 over 1/256". Lesson: the details are very important.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am sure you are aware of the Favorites function in Autodesk products allowing you to quickly navigate to jobs by picking them off a "short" list.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKntdmvFiW5wcFe_5ZpNd3kxniC6D1n2elBsILib8JbLwGQ8kZ2QQb9_T83aHEkPSCfP0OgYVU9NyxAXojLUE_ASi-wAhs70h6BSCFzoeNsiX6bwyCN0ChlAmV7zWtPwwqTRfD/s1600/fav-1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKntdmvFiW5wcFe_5ZpNd3kxniC6D1n2elBsILib8JbLwGQ8kZ2QQb9_T83aHEkPSCfP0OgYVU9NyxAXojLUE_ASi-wAhs70h6BSCFzoeNsiX6bwyCN0ChlAmV7zWtPwwqTRfD/s1600/fav-1.png" height="312" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Buried in the tools drop down, is the "<b>Add to Favorites</b>" function.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYvjD0n4L7UADv-lrLU8nj-DxBRtdjtpxVvN9_dH6CYuZ_3keiAYc8vPLJtuqAU3YUpinFYf7G3KSmY9iVCwlz8axnXuK0KrUlemuscMgsTKvTQdZqXJwEZZnUAZktN0LwTAJP/s1600/fav-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYvjD0n4L7UADv-lrLU8nj-DxBRtdjtpxVvN9_dH6CYuZ_3keiAYc8vPLJtuqAU3YUpinFYf7G3KSmY9iVCwlz8axnXuK0KrUlemuscMgsTKvTQdZqXJwEZZnUAZktN0LwTAJP/s1600/fav-2.png" height="102" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This I hope you know already. You may not know that you can right click on the taskbar, select <b>Toolbars</b>, then pick <b>New toolbar...</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9Mt1iEamNLmWnHvfsZP1f1HVZkWmyS53SBaPXFOb-TiSKcnTp9QaqKY0tyKqj7lfkAkE_2tA3Ai31DqwuXdaQfjUPhugXLnUdujCko19m3bfcNZttygS7B4Xj443GUovcnF_B/s1600/fav-3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9Mt1iEamNLmWnHvfsZP1f1HVZkWmyS53SBaPXFOb-TiSKcnTp9QaqKY0tyKqj7lfkAkE_2tA3Ai31DqwuXdaQfjUPhugXLnUdujCko19m3bfcNZttygS7B4Xj443GUovcnF_B/s1600/fav-3.png" height="159" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Browse to your Favorites folder to add it to the taskbar. Now you can access your favorites for more than just CAD.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Plot stamps do a great job of displaying when a drawing was last plotted. For this project I want to see the date stamp update like a normal field. On Open, Save, Plot, eTransmit, and Regen for sure.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8658mFZG7O24Gu2RlQJ-W1wRafvPnySutuOkciI59uKduyIJkCWz1AjQwxRGcxcx4mFKK4YhORhMyjNUcWx_kaJ2cpq-k-je2lBuwgE8W8LHqW2YmTA1axg2gDuSPPoX4vlQf/s1600/fin-update.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8658mFZG7O24Gu2RlQJ-W1wRafvPnySutuOkciI59uKduyIJkCWz1AjQwxRGcxcx4mFKK4YhORhMyjNUcWx_kaJ2cpq-k-je2lBuwgE8W8LHqW2YmTA1axg2gDuSPPoX4vlQf/s1600/fin-update.png" height="185" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Turns out that Date fields do not update the way all other fields do.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAGSQqghNUjw9xaBxau2SkwOV13eg0o_KVTAAe0kJThDqHVCwBOtpiYSj4X8t-c3Bgcsc2cLpu4WKiZEAoVxhlX_0BH2euO2I1DwUtx9Tqp0_0tUSUYe7Snh9XmAtdwr2gFWbm/s1600/fin-standard.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAGSQqghNUjw9xaBxau2SkwOV13eg0o_KVTAAe0kJThDqHVCwBOtpiYSj4X8t-c3Bgcsc2cLpu4WKiZEAoVxhlX_0BH2euO2I1DwUtx9Tqp0_0tUSUYe7Snh9XmAtdwr2gFWbm/s1600/fin-standard.png" height="265" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To side step the issue, I used a bit of Diesel code "<i>$(editime,0,MON DD","YYYY -H:MMam/pm)</i>"</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4I89ao8ZngPTAJBLT-xdLfTE9WJXdPiExIKQgHfB_1hIixvx6pAs9kkdJUGJL7urMKWGPFtwFyfLeLCbMfkmMPjzJ38dCeAjmKwML4EqT0WPDSEeQSFoQ-sqteN82H3r_nBMm/s1600/fin-diesel.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4I89ao8ZngPTAJBLT-xdLfTE9WJXdPiExIKQgHfB_1hIixvx6pAs9kkdJUGJL7urMKWGPFtwFyfLeLCbMfkmMPjzJ38dCeAjmKwML4EqT0WPDSEeQSFoQ-sqteN82H3r_nBMm/s1600/fin-diesel.png" height="400" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The difference is that when I Regen, the Diesel field updates. Thanks ancient CAD technology!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's what I over heard Lynn Allen refer to as "<b>the hamburger</b>". It lives in the lower right-hand corner of your screen and controls all kinds of screen tools. Besides the cool name, it stays open and lets you make multiple changes before closing, unlike its predecessor.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I suppose it is called the hamburger because the symbol can resemble two buns with a hamburger patty in the middle. In the end, it satisfies like famous sandwich, and I am glad to add it to my vocabulary.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

this tool? I think it pulls things together that already exist and puts them into a single place. Getting people to gravitate to it is the trick. having everything I need in a single location, that might just do the trick. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Autodesk Instant should also benefit business by providing a cheaper
alternative to SMS; and corporate administration controls and integration
access to web tools will be added in future versions of the app.<br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It will also benefit you to have a not ancient mobile device. Since it relies on cutting edge technology, older devices may not support it.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There are so many asterisks in life we tend to ignore them. If you have embraced file tabs in AutoCAD 2014 you may have missed the asterisks on the tabs and what they mean.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well, if you see an asterisk on a tab, that drawing file has unsaved changes. If there isn't an asterisk, you are saved and good to go.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now you know that.</span><div class="blogger-post-footer">Now that's some mighty fine feed, indeed!</div>Todd M Shackelfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06675174836957357445noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20243274.post-64891909821479782222013-10-23T06:34:00.000-05:002013-10-23T06:34:15.921-05:00360 Support for Apple Air<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Who is very busy these days? <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">and </span><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">the following facts...</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">AutoCAD 2014 for Mac is Here!</span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Further demonstrating the company’s commitment to Apple platforms, it announced that Autodesk <a href="http://mail.alvine.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.autodesk.com/products/autodesk-autocad/compare/compare-platforms" target="_blank">AutoCAD 2014 for Mac</a> and Autodesk AutoCAD LT for Mac are available immediately. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Support for Apple’s Retina display, synchronization with Autodesk 360 and other enhancements make AutoCAD 2014 for Mac the most powerful 2D & 3D CAD application for Mac. AutoCAD 2014 for Mac is one of the first major professional software applications to support Apple’s new retina display, which delivers a superior user experience. AutoCAD 2014 for Mac also boasts major improvements such as synchronization with the Autodesk 360 cloud platform, Package Drawing (like eTransmit on Windows) and overall performance enhancements and UI improvements.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“AutoCAD for Mac users are extremely passionate, and we have worked hard to incorporate their top requests and feedback into this release,” said Amy Bunszel, vice president of AutoCAD products at Autodesk. “Customers will find the overall experience much faster and cleaner, enabling designers to be more efficient and collaborative with their teams.” </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The enhancements in both AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac are the result of rigorous development work to give customers a better experience and connect them to the <a href="http://mail.alvine.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=https://360.autodesk.com/" target="_blank">Autodesk 360 platform</a>, giving customers access to cloud-based storage and collaboration capabilities. Other enhancements include:</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Retina Display Support:</b> AutoCAD now fully supports Apple’s stunning, high-definition Retina display experience throughout the user interface with crisper lines and text, easier-to-see tools, and a much higher level of detail even at high zoom levels.</span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="background-color: white;">

When I type <b>F</b> for fillet, </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">AutoComplete starts a guessin' and throws in <b>FN</b> a short cut for Flag Note. Not quite the same thing, frowny face.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you would like more control over the </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">AutoComplete function and how AutoCAD tries to predict your behavior, right click in the command line and select Input Settings or the handy-Dandy Input Search Options.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg52f6_q54-XWt1D87HHBaUV_g8qO5YDPzDu3md29n8SfipDrwnHO1sseAfbKU3VYqnoj2ldD8gLjGavciywSmA2lggxG6li004b4WprtGmHy2Z7-MzgRXWYh8bk_N9OaBNKgKB/s1600/AutoJerk1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg52f6_q54-XWt1D87HHBaUV_g8qO5YDPzDu3md29n8SfipDrwnHO1sseAfbKU3VYqnoj2ldD8gLjGavciywSmA2lggxG6li004b4WprtGmHy2Z7-MzgRXWYh8bk_N9OaBNKgKB/s1600/AutoJerk1.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then just turn off A</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">utoComplete to fix my particular problem.</span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zRQF54cJnZkqZ3ZhXuIdmt7k_QB7lxqUmWfG1cwog1pxcAWUTdgMG3-tR9V_kUPzyt89gHNsOXJJZ29p6-ZzYZNzT4SKBw-q2rs1W3QX8-VDG6ifj1Wus_C8OE39dVLXOkYF/s1600/AutoJerk.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zRQF54cJnZkqZ3ZhXuIdmt7k_QB7lxqUmWfG1cwog1pxcAWUTdgMG3-tR9V_kUPzyt89gHNsOXJJZ29p6-ZzYZNzT4SKBw-q2rs1W3QX8-VDG6ifj1Wus_C8OE39dVLXOkYF/s1600/AutoJerk.png" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">But look around in this dialog. The level of control is quite impressive, and sure to satisfy about every users needs.</span><br />

I will be honest, I didn't really see a reason for file tabs, but much like beer, what might have tasted bad at first, can become a part of your life that you just can't seem to live without after you get used to it.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here is why the File tabs are cool.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>No More Around the Horn</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">No more Ctrl+Tab to get to the open drawing I want. Just click on the drawing you want to look at and go.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Save All</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Right click on a file tab and select </span><b style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Save All</b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. It saves all you open drawings with one click.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJQuExp1zGI8e4WAnPeRazNyk6IhiOgyC_MHuHAQY_-DDa5FMpoquNPdLYzCxdTHHEQy4IlBQPDQiYx8SZnp23KyFkrusb-PMecD0ju0xRns8SHuVhGA-c8ZWIyEIHqShiiwxs/s1600/Saveall.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJQuExp1zGI8e4WAnPeRazNyk6IhiOgyC_MHuHAQY_-DDa5FMpoquNPdLYzCxdTHHEQy4IlBQPDQiYx8SZnp23KyFkrusb-PMecD0ju0xRns8SHuVhGA-c8ZWIyEIHqShiiwxs/s320/Saveall.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Order up! </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Just drag the file tabs to what ever location you prefer them.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Closing Time!</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Right click on a tab to get 3 options for closing drawings. You have to like Close All and Close all except This Tab.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAg5_82Uc9bDurHm0KRVvpPUemBx9xLhCauiz5utXZUw2SxcBsx6sw6yWw9ai6KLNOVnrj4mbr-o6TQEhXEpebmsr_9F4OoXWIIupGYpFDFsxSYF8CpzuFysh2pYN9la5uwNjt/s1600/Close.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="141" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAg5_82Uc9bDurHm0KRVvpPUemBx9xLhCauiz5utXZUw2SxcBsx6sw6yWw9ai6KLNOVnrj4mbr-o6TQEhXEpebmsr_9F4OoXWIIupGYpFDFsxSYF8CpzuFysh2pYN9la5uwNjt/s320/Close.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Location and Path</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I wrote a command a long time ago to open Windows explorer to the current drawings location. Now I can ditch that in favor of right clicking on the tab for it. I can also copy the file path to paste into emails and whatever.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ultkrwRrdpZrYMPH6OqZZGG1bOXDM-c-9PCY7SYC3tQN56DyQOLmMI6pJHgmJXnnYlxPqVwPEBo47ZooXWTXtKmXkd3QDePHmXBNoqHooy5IJCteOwUQCcWgmwVJZon5xyTL/s1600/Locate.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ultkrwRrdpZrYMPH6OqZZGG1bOXDM-c-9PCY7SYC3tQN56DyQOLmMI6pJHgmJXnnYlxPqVwPEBo47ZooXWTXtKmXkd3QDePHmXBNoqHooy5IJCteOwUQCcWgmwVJZon5xyTL/s320/Locate.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you still don't like the file tabs, type "FileTabClose" on the command line and they will disappear. If you have guilt about making them go away, just type "FileTab" to bring them back.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I had quite an issue on a machine that I had installed AutoCAD 2014 on multiple times, but every time I tried to fire it up I would get this "Display driver file is missing or corrupted" error. Then AutoCAD would crash.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOf43UDdkBnSbIwH76UrVw2NGuvXKhPaEB88lIFfKm41DIna4mAFXx1LFFxKhkusxzpc97cQfOjxhAoXDKlMD4K3f1mK597y4LJMRxffb4ADYuKZFZ8jvOC12-IRUsTe5aNjqV/s1600/Screenshot+2013-08-29+at+9.23.19+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOf43UDdkBnSbIwH76UrVw2NGuvXKhPaEB88lIFfKm41DIna4mAFXx1LFFxKhkusxzpc97cQfOjxhAoXDKlMD4K3f1mK597y4LJMRxffb4ADYuKZFZ8jvOC12-IRUsTe5aNjqV/s1600/Screenshot+2013-08-29+at+9.23.19+PM.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I copy pasted drivers and files from a working machine but nothing. Then I thought, "I have been having issues with hardware acceleration".</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I added this switch "<b>/nohardware</b>" to the start up icon, and wa-shaw! no worries.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am looking into which drivers, video cards, and yadda, yadda, but at least now we can fire up this machine and draft things.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Back to business people.</span><div class="blogger-post-footer">Now that's some mighty fine feed, indeed!</div>Todd M Shackelfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06675174836957357445noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20243274.post-57917603919037621522013-07-24T14:26:00.000-05:002013-07-24T14:26:00.640-05:00What are you Hiding?<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Every users hits a point when AutoCAD displays a dialog box alerting you to something and you see the check box that says something to the effect of "Don't ask me again" and that box gets checked.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Many people have enjoyed the not being bugged afterward, but occasionally there is regret.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here is how to erase that regret.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Go to the Systems tab of the Options dialog, and click the "Hidden Messages Settings" button.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This will open the expected dialog revealing everything you have chosen to hide. More importantly, you can choose to see the regretted dialog boxes of your choice, by checking the boxes next to them.</span><br />

Clicking the osnap icon at the bottom of the drawing window produced the same result. The answer was revealed when I looked at the settings dialog.</span><br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX6Pxr7quvZ5yCfsaqtB5bpvXBHt82si9ngLcuSLt8M_KfLyA1MldY8cTBgfDS9naYfrOxUQiFZI67fhBX3ga7VJlhFa30yXqtVVNgu2fuUnZAcl4AqMcAatYYWTUWMmglOMP/s502/snap.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="385" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrX6Pxr7quvZ5yCfsaqtB5bpvXBHt82si9ngLcuSLt8M_KfLyA1MldY8cTBgfDS9naYfrOxUQiFZI67fhBX3ga7VJlhFa30yXqtVVNgu2fuUnZAcl4AqMcAatYYWTUWMmglOMP/s400/snap.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">No snaps were selected, so AutoCAD figured if you want to toggle on the snaps, you might want it to mean something by selecting a snap. Selecting any snap, returned the toggling tools back to normal.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am naming this phenomena the Dan Maneuver, in honor of Dan's perplexing question. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">AutoCAD, when did you get smarter than us?</span><div class="blogger-post-footer">Now that's some mighty fine feed, indeed!</div>Todd M Shackelfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06675174836957357445noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20243274.post-29504844335920475552013-06-26T12:37:00.004-05:002013-06-26T12:37:38.685-05:00Who do you trust?<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After installing AutoCAD 2014, you may have an issue with some routines that worked fine in the past. In my case it came down a lisp that gets called from outside of my normal environment. You may already know that the addition of Trusted Locations, is an effort to increase the security of AutoCAD. It limits the use of lisps, executables, and the such to only the ones found in trusted locations specified in <b>Options</b> on the <b>Files</b> Tab. The "Trustedpaths" system variable can be used to command line the trusted locations.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUK3KQy-xanO-CUgmoDMjuMsv2D3lCeLQYf3LMZB8pyCh8WtgQK3vaze9TKqtlFSzghx_DxUMfsCX-dKCLd9pVzxY6IFn-aR3XAcrxk_5rglUfdfFdepOUQohSMq5nqsvmyakv/s1600/trusted2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUK3KQy-xanO-CUgmoDMjuMsv2D3lCeLQYf3LMZB8pyCh8WtgQK3vaze9TKqtlFSzghx_DxUMfsCX-dKCLd9pVzxY6IFn-aR3XAcrxk_5rglUfdfFdepOUQohSMq5nqsvmyakv/s1600/trusted2.png" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now that we have the ability, I had to track down the location of these files so I can add them to the list of Trusted Locations. After a bit, I got tired of looking because.... I'm Lazy duh. So instead I hopped over to the<b> System</b> tab. there you will find an "Executable File Settings" button. Click that, and choose the top selection, which just like it says, will load from all locations without displaying a warning. You can accomplish the same thing with the "Secureload" system variable, setting it to 0,1, or 2. those number equate top to bottom of the choices in the dialog.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There is also a "trusteddomains" system variable out there to add trusted sited to download from.</span><div class="blogger-post-footer">Now that's some mighty fine feed, indeed!</div>Todd M Shackelfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06675174836957357445noreply@blogger.com0
